Description
Technical Parameters

Ropivacaine hydrochloride CAS 132112-35-7, is an amide-type long-acting local anesthetic drug. It has higher lipid solubility than lidocaine but lower than bupivacaine. Its anesthetic potency is 8 times that of procaine. Due to its metabolites in liver metabolism, it has a prolonged effect. It is primarily used for regional nerve blockade anesthesia and epidural anesthesia and is also used for postoperative and labor analgesia.

Ropivacaine hydrochloride CAS 132112-35-7 API FAQ

Q: What is ropivacaine hydrochloride used for?

A: Descriptions. Ropivacaine injection is used to cause numbness or loss of feeling in patients before and during surgery or labor and delivery. It is also used to relieve acute pain. Ropivacaine is a local anesthetic and does not cause loss of consciousness.

Q: What is the CAS of ropivacaine hydrochloride?

A: Ropivacaine Hydrochloride - CAS [132112-35-7]

Q: What is the generic name for ropivacaine?

A: Ropivacaine is an amide-type local anesthetic used for local or regional anesthesia during surgery and for short-term management of acute pain. Ropivacaine is an aminoamide local anesthetic drug.

Q: What is the clinical use of ropivacaine?

A: It is also used in major nerve blocks and local infiltration. In acute pain management, ropivacaine is used in epidurals (continuous infusion or intermittent bolus) for postoperative or labor pain control.

Q: What kind of drug is ropivacaine?

A: Ropivacaine is used as a local (in only one area) anesthesia for a spinal block, also called an epidural. The medication is used to provide anesthesia during a surgery or C-section, or to ease labor pains.

Q: Is ropivacaine stronger than lidocaine?

A: Ropivacaine was found to be superior to lignocaine in terms of the quality of anesthesia.

Q: What is the difference between lidocaine and ropivacaine?

A: However, the duration of anesthesia achieved by lidocaine administration is approximately 1 hour, and the postoperative analgesia is not prolonged. In contrast, ropivacaine is a fairly new long-acting local anesthetic with rare side effects.

Q: How long is ropivacaine local anesthetic?

A: Initial dose: 20 to 40 mg (10 to 20 mL) of 0.2% solution; onset of action 10 to 15 minutes with a duration of 0.5 to 1.5 hours.

Q: What is the strongest anesthetic?

A: Tetracaine is one of the most potent anesthetics of the ester-type anesthetic group, which is widely used in ophthalmology as a topical anesthetic agent.

Q: How does ropivacaine compare to other local anesthetics?

A: Compared with other local anesthetics, RPV has a longer analgesic effect (3–6 hours) and lower CNS toxicity and cardiotoxicity. However, the analgesic effect of RPV at present is limited to <6 hours (subcutaneous injection) and <20 hours for a typical femoral nerve block.
