Photoinitiator 250, also known as 2,4,6-Trimethylbenzoyl-diphenyl-phosphine oxide (TPO), is a highly efficient photoinitiator that is commonly used in UV-curable formulations. When exposed to UV light of a specific wavelength, typically in the range of 350 to 400 nanometers, Photoinitiator 250 absorbs the energy and undergoes a photochemical reaction, generating free radicals or other reactive species. These reactive species then initiate the polymerization or crosslinking process, leading to the curing or hardening of the UV-curable material.
250 can be used alone or mixed with appropriate photosensitizers (such as thiazolidone) for UV curing inks, adhesives, paper, metal, and plastic surface varnish.
