Description
Technical Parameters

Cyclosporine A is a cyclic polypeptide containing 11 amino acids and is a potent immunosuppressant. It inhibits cell-mediated responses. At the cellular level, cyclosporine inhibits the production and release of lymphokines, including interleukin 2 [T-cell growth factor (TCGF)]. It blocks resting lymphocytes in the G0 or G1 phase of the cell cycle and inhibits antigen-triggered lymphokine release via activated T cells.

It is used for anti-rejection of organ transplantation and selective treatment of autoimmune diseases.

All evidence shows that cyclosporine acts specifically and reversibly on lymphocytes without affecting haematopoietic and phagocytic functions. The use of cyclosporine to prevent rejection and graft-versus-host disease has led to successful transplantation of solid organs and bone marrow in humans. In addition, cyclosporine also has therapeutic effects on many diseases that are known or may be caused by autoimmunity.

On June. 2020, Cyclosporine passed GMP certification.

On Dec. 2020, API Cyclosporine was granted "written confirmation for active substance exported to EU".

Cyclosporin CAS 59865-13-3 API FAQ

Q: What is Cyclosporin?

A: Cyclosporin, also known as Cyclosporine or Ciclosporin, is an immunosuppressive medication used to prevent organ rejection in transplant recipients and to treat certain autoimmune diseases. It works by suppressing the immune system to prevent it from attacking transplanted organs or causing damage in autoimmune conditions.

Q: How is Cyclosporin administered?

A: Cyclosporin can be administered orally in the form of capsules, as an oral solution, or through intravenous (IV) injection.

Q: What conditions are treated with Cyclosporin?

A: Cyclosporin is used to prevent rejection in organ transplant recipients, including kidney, liver, heart, and lung transplants. It is also employed in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and atopic dermatitis.

Q: How does Cyclosporin work?

A: Cyclosporin works by inhibiting the activation of T-cells, which are essential components of the immune response. By blocking T-cell activation, Cyclosporin suppresses the immune system and reduces the immune response responsible for organ rejection or autoimmune reactions.

Q: Are there any drug interactions with Cyclosporin?

A: Yes, Cyclosporin can interact with various medications. It is important to inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal supplements, to avoid potential interactions. Certain drugs, such as antibiotics, antifungal agents, and certain blood pressure medications, can interact with Cyclosporin and affect its effectiveness or increase the risk of side effects.

Q: Can Cyclosporin be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

A: Cyclosporin should be used with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
